Spring has sprung—great month of up and down weather, tornado warnings to sunny summer-esque days. The rest of the month was full of soccer games, delicious meals with friends, game nights with the boys, spring Bible studies, Michigan March Madness, movie theater thrills and DUDS, building garden beds, horse riding, birthday celebrations, Tiger’s Opening Day, hikes, basement weather sleepovers, and much more.
This month my love turned 30. At this point we’ve been together for a third of our lives, which is crazy to think about. As we age together, it’s fascinating how much our love and affection rely on pursuing Jesus. In seasons where one of us, mainly me, struggles to maintain focus on the throne and ultimate reality, our marriage struggles. We are great at going through the motions in these times, but a flourishing, intimate marriage depends on Christ-centeredness. I’m convinced of this after seasons where I’ve put myself or something else on the throne.
Not sure why celebrating Katie turned into that, but yeah, she turned 30 and it was great celebrating her. We had a great weekend of fun, starting off with a family-style dinner at Delbar, which I am convinced is the best restaurant in Georgia. Followed up the next day with dinner at Aria and a stay at Waldorf Astoria. Spending time, being considerate, giving gifts, a great celebration of a beautiful soul.
Best and Worst of the month:
Best thing I watched, read, or listened to: Black Bag - absolute banger. When Soderbergh hits a vibe, he knows how to hit it.
Worst thing I watched, read, or listened to: Snow White, the frick is going at Disney? If Lilo and Stitch is a bust I’m out
Best experience of the month: Celebrating Katie’s birthday and seeing our foster kid be reunited with his parents.
Best thing I ate: Wings and Street Corn Crema @ Smoke On The Farm, everything I ever eat at Delbar.
