February 2025

Ima be real, I don’t have much for February 2025. We spent most of the month being teased with spring off and on. So there were plenty of days outside enjoying the faux spring, and then in turn plenty of days inside from the cold rain. We made the most of the inside though. Baking, eating good food, enjoying strong coffee, and reading good books. When the weather turned we spent time riding bikes, hiking, and even a night in a tent for me.

We also spent the month celebrating the news that our foster child would be returning home at the end of the month. After nearly half a year with us we had to figure out how you say goodbye. You have to get it in your head that this person you’ve raised during this period will now leave and you’ll likely never see them again. It’s a very strange experience and one that my kids and wife have handled with more grace and elegance than I could have imagined. We will miss them, but a child returning to their home is the best outcome from a broken situation.
