Blog Boy
I started blogging over a decade ago. The first site I wrote for was a simple one called The Unprofessionals, which I started with my buddy Nathan. We kept it going for nearly the entire period, going through different iterations and staff along the way. I also wrote and podcasted for a series of sites at SB Nation and Fansided, covering matches with press credentials for Barcelona, Napoli, Inter Milan, and Atlanta United. It was a blast, and I loved doing it for a long time. However, like most hobbies that morph into a side gig, it eventually ran its course, and I stopped altogether last year after it became tiresome to manage my site.
Writing about sports and entertainment is tough when you become a fan from afar instead of following it at a micro level. When you have a family, a myriad of hobbies, and a career, checking in on multiple Premier League matches all day Saturday is a tough beat. It eventually sucks the life out of things you enjoy if you aren’t afforded the time to handle it properly. All that to say, unless you write full-time, writing about things you don’t naturally do in the flow of life is difficult.
That leads me to this site. My life now revolves around spending as much time with my wife and kids as possible. I’m acutely aware of how quickly my kids are growing, how old I’m getting, and how life is passing me by. Putting it another way, I want my family to remember me for spending time with them and being around them. So that’s what I plan to blog about. I miss writing, and if I’m not going to write about the latest season of Fargo or argue about Star Wars pitch decks with Nathan, I’m going to write about life with my family. Hope you enjoy.
